In Memory of Steve Rosenberg
On Thursday, October 16, 2003, FAMA lost a good friend, songwriter, musician, and all-around nice guy. Steve Rosenberg passed away after a long fight against cancer. Those who knew Steve at all were aware how important FAMA and acoustic music were to him. Already struggling against this horrible disease, Steve was determined that he would open for Bryan Bowers last February 23 and he did to much applause. He had even planned to be a part of the Annual Benefit Concert on September 13, but his illness had progressed to the point where he could no longer perform. A slot had been kept open for him just in case he could make it.
FAMA will certainly feel this loss. Steve helped to found FAMA, and since the beginning he was always there to keep things rolling. He served on the FAMA Board for most of the years since the founding. He created and maintained the FAMA website and edited the newsletter for many years. When there was work to be done, Steve would always be there (often with his wife and two daughters) to see that it was accomplished, but he was also there to share a song or a funny story.
Even in the waning days of his life, Steve always tried to keep a sense of humor and a positive attitude. Steve will truly be missed by FAMA and the wider Fond du Lac community.
